Gold Fields Foundation Recognized for Community Support

Barbara Oteng-Gyasi, Chairperson of the Minerals Commission, expressed her gratitude to the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation (GFGF) for its longstanding support in the operational areas. She highlighted the significant impact of the foundation’s initiatives on the surrounding communities.

During a ceremony, Oteng-Gyasi, on behalf of the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo Addo, presented an ambulance to the Huni Valley Health Centre. This donation fulfilled a pledge made by Mrs. Akufo Addo during the opening of the Health Centre in 2019 through the Rebecca Foundation.

The Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, lauded the foundation for its contributions to community development. He commended the spread of investments across various communities and encouraged the company to allocate 20 percent of its corporate social investment fund to support youth engaged in small and medium enterprises.

Dr. Anthony Adofo Ofosu, Deputy Director-General of Ghana Health Services, also commended GFGF for its continuous commitment to supporting healthcare initiatives. He emphasized the importance of emergency healthcare and praised the foundation’s efforts in this regard. Dr. Ofosu highlighted the significance of providing accommodation for doctors and nurses near healthcare facilities, making their practice more convenient and efficient.

Nana Kwabena Amponsah IV, Divisional Chief of Bosomtwe, expressed gratitude to Gold Fields for its substantial support. He advocated for the upgrade of the health center to a polyclinic status, reflecting the community’s aspirations for improved healthcare services.
